Embassy Authentication
Filipino Overseas Foreign Workers (OFWs) and expatriates residing abroad may be required to provide authenticated documents for various reasons, such as employment and marriage. Authentication of documents is a process that verifies the authenticity of a document and ensures that it is legally recognized in the country where it is being used. This process is crucial for OFWs and expats as it enables them to comply with the legal requirements of their host country and avoid any legal issues that may arise due to the use of unauthenticated documents.
Retrieving your documents from the Philippines can be a costly affair, especially if you have to travel in person. It can also be a risky process, particularly when dealing with unverified agents who may provide fake authentications. Moreover, travel restrictions, such as those imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic, can make it impossible to travel to the Philippines. As a result, Filipinos often have to rely on their friends and family in the Philippines to assist them with this task.
Obtaining documents from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and undergoing DFA Apostille Authentication are relatively simple processes. However, the most challenging part is obtaining authentication from the Embassy. This step requires careful attention to detail and can be time-consuming and frustrating. Fortunately, DAAP (Document Authentication Agency Philippines) can provide valuable assistance in navigating this complex process. With DAAP's help, you can ensure that your documents are properly authenticated and ready for use in a timely and efficient manner.
There are more than one hundred foreign missions in the Philippines and many of them offer document authentication services. These services allow Philippines-issued documents to be used in foreign countries. However, the requirements and pricing for document authentication vary widely from one embassy to another. If you need documents or certificates from the Philippines for yourself or your loved ones, we can help you get a stress-free experience by taking the complexity out of the process. If you need assistance with authentication for a specific embassy, please feel free to contact us.
TECO (Taiwan Embassy Authentication)
Taiwan is not part of the Apostille convention, which means that you cannot use your DFA-authenticated documents directly in Taiwan. However, we offer special assistance to Overseas Filipinos based in Taiwan, as we are headquartered there. We have already helped hundreds of OFWs.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Taiwanese embassy strictly implemented authentication through appointment only. This lasted for two years. At present, an appointment is not required, except for certain cases such as transnational marriage cases.
Once we submit your documents to TECO, they will verify them online from DFA and further verify each document with PSA as well. Therefore, the average processing time for authentication can take up to 2 weeks. If you need expedited processing, it is possible, depending on the document.
For any type of authentication at TECO, our agency will need the following at least:
-
Applicant's passport and ID copies
-
The original document authenticated by DFA
-
Letter of Authorization signed by the applicant
Important Note:
-
If you require CENOMAR authentication for a transnational marriage, the Taiwan Embassy may require additional documents and an interview with the couple.
-
Most documents need to be translated into Chinese for use in Taiwan. If you need help translating your documents, we can assist you in the Philippines. Alternatively, we can recommend some reliable notaries in Taiwan who offer both translation and notarization services.
-
If your documents have already been authenticated by the DFA, we can proceed with Embassy authentication directly. However, if they have not been authenticated, we will need to obtain fresh copies from PSA and authenticate them through DFA ourselves. We do not accept any civil documents for DFA processing unless we have retrieved them ourselves. This is to prevent fraudulent or tampered documents from being authenticated via DAAP.
